GRAND FELICITATION TO BARRETO FOR THE MAJESTIC RECORD

6.3.2010, Kolkata: Today Sabuj Maroon Swapno has felicitated the Brazilian talisman, our beloved “JISHUDA” for his rare achievement of scoring 200 goals in his favourite green and maroon jersey. In the last match against Chirag United he created this record and he has reached to this rare milestone in just only 324 matches. It is to be noted that he is the first footballer in Indian football scenario to score 200 goals for any particular club (read Mohun Bagan Athletic Club). He scored his first goal for Mohun Bagan in the match against Dempo Sports Club in NFL 1999-2000; scored his 100th against Indian Bank in NFL 2002-03. During his journey in green and maroon jersey, he has already bagged 8 hattricks and the first one was scored against Mahindra United in NFL, 2000-01.

So to pay honour to his great contribution towards Mohun Bagan and to celebrate his new feat, Sabuj Maroon Swapno felicitated him at club lawn after today’s practice session. On behalf of Sabuj Maroon Swapno, Marcos Pereira, our midfield supremo handed over the gifts to Barreto in presence of members of Sabuj Maroon Swapno and media personalities. A copper rounded plaque enframed with teak wood forbearing Baul (as a symbol of traditional Bengali folk culture) was handed over to Jishuda and then a replica of country boat with sailors rowing it off was presented to the talisman. A beautiful collage framed with various match pictures of Barreto scoring from different angle was handed to him as a token collection of 200 goals. The biggest surprise of the presentation was beautifully bedecked 200 mark rose decorated huge bouquet. Last but not the least sweet Bengali word of Barreto …. “Abar dekha hobe” was the most surprising gift from Barreto to all of us.

Barreto was really overwhelmed with which enthusiasm Sabuj Maroon Swapno today has celebrated his new record and expressed his gratitude to all the supporters to be there to back him up.

We are thankful to Barreto for sparing some time from his valuable schedule for this event and hope that in near future we will be there at club lawn with a bouquet of 300 roses.....
