SABUJ MAROON SWAPNO

It was a normal day of 17 th June 2007 … the day very much the same as any other non red lettered day of the annual calendar … but very few people knew that once this very special day will result in setting up a revolution in the football arena of the country…
              
 To be very frank very few people in India watch football or have a serious concern about it … they are more interested in a specific game which is negligible in stature when compared to a sport which has a worldwide appeal called soccer or football.
              
When we speak of football in India the name, which comes to our mind, first is of course MOHUN BAGAN, it is our national club and bears lots of glory, which results in glorifying the Indian football itself.
In a social network website named Orkut some enthusiasts MOHUN BAGAN supporters came together to form a community on the net … this very community came together to form the 1st real life community on 17 th June 2007 under the name of SABUJ MAROON SWAPNO which is now a premium registered fan club of MOHUN BAGAN - the national club of India …

- Fighting for a cause

SABUJ MAROON SWAPNO – in English it means green and maroon dreams … its all about dreams related to the club which dons the green and maroon jersey - MOHUN BAGAN … all of us dreamt about the welfare of the club and thought of some means by which we could prove fruitful or beneficial to the club. As one of our member often says that "we are not MOHUN BAGAN supporters, we are rather MOHUN BAGAN fans ". Thus to wear the tag of a fan requires more responsibilities, more planning to help the club in any possible manner without being a part of the system … “fans doesn’t only support the team from the stands of the stadium, they not only burst out in joy with every victory or cry their hearts out with every defeat, they also finds the way out how to help the club in turning at the defeats to victory and hold on to the already achieved victories..” quotes another …  
            
So the first meeting of SABUJ MAROON SWAPNO (SMS) was held on 17th June 2007. Then the activities of the organization kept flowing.. It included the welcoming of Carlos Alberto Pahira, the then coach of MOHUN BAGAN senior team … renovation of marble plaques related to the great history of MOHUN BAGAN club which were in miserable condition, renovation of the bench related to the great history of 1911 IFA Shield winning team… but our main objective was to work on the ground root level…. We have helped the ex-players and groundsmen of MOHUNBAGAN both financially and mentally …. All these deeds need not to be mentioned here .. but still mentioning of these deeds makes us feel better and boosts us in our way ahead …

At Last.....

At last we had a major project in hand … and that was to help the nursery team of the club, which was to take part in the Sahara Nursery League competition. All the deeds we had done were close to our heart but this specific one was even closer.. this was a way how we could help the club and provide a supply line to the senior team …. we helped the nursery team in every way we could and the team emerged as the champion.
           
We have different projects in hand; all brand new concepts, which we think, will bring about a change in the outlook of the football fans in India. The organization is well planned … it works mainly in the corporate format. It has an able core committee, which mainly takes all the decisions along with the inputs of different members. SMS is gaining in strength thick and fast.
           
This is arguably the first fans organization in India which is all set to dream and dream really hard … we not only dream but know how to pragmatise our dreams to reality..
           
This is it what SABUJ MAROON SWAPNO is all about … a fans organization which is fighting for a cause ….

Other Requirements : Two copies of  PP size photos and one xerox copy of any photo ID

New members will get a green and maroon jersey which is very special for SMS, a scarf and a wrist band. Photo I-card will also be issued after one month of taking the new membership.
